is seeking proposals for art.
The Two Coves Community Garden Art Group is looking for an
artwork or functional design in the form of sculpture, installation
or arranged plantings (any form which can be prominently displayed
on the lawn and viewable from the street corner) which can both
add to the beauty of the garden and promote a more sustainable,
more environmentally friendly way of living.
The selected artwork will be installed at the western end on
the triangular lawn of Two Coves Community Garden located at
Astoria Boulevard and 8th Street in Astoria, Queens and will be
on view throughout the gardening season and (if weatherproof)
through the winter and into spring. The chosen artist/creator will
receive an $800 stipend and assistance will be provided by the
Two Coves Community Garden Art Group possible through
grants from the Citizens Committee for New York City
and the Pufﬁn Foundation, Ltd.
Art projects which involve any or all of these attributes:
group collaboration, recycled materials, naturally grown or
organic materials, and promoting local revitalization efforts,
healthy living, diversity and social harmony
will receive the strongest consideration.
